Delete your After Duty account or data
Your records are yours. You can delete your entire After Duty (formerly VA Claim Path) account, or just individual documents, at any time — no phone call, no support ticket, no waiting period.
Option 1 — Delete your whole account (in the app)
This removes your account and everything in it. It takes under a minute.
- Open the After Duty app (or go to app.vaclaimpath.com) and sign in.
- Tap your profile avatar in the top-right corner to open Profile.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Confirm when prompted. Your account and data are deleted immediately.
If you have an active paid subscription, deleting your account also cancels it — you will not be billed again.
Option 2 — Delete individual documents (keep your account)
You do not have to delete your account to remove data. In the Docs tab, tap any document and choose Delete. The file and the facts extracted from it are removed from your claim analysis.
Option 3 — Ask us to delete it for you
If you cannot sign in, email [email protected] from the email address or phone number on your account and ask us to delete it. We may ask you to verify your identity before we act on the request, and we will complete it within 30 days.
What gets deleted
When you delete your account, we permanently delete:
- Your uploaded documents — medical records, service records, and statements (deleted from cloud storage, not just hidden)
- Every fact extracted from those documents, and all conditions, ratings, evidence gaps, and scenarios built from them
- Your Ask AI chat history
- Your profile: name, email address, phone number, and service history
- Any share links you created for a VSO or attorney, and their access
- Your sign-in credentials, including any passkeys or biometric enrollment on your devices
What we keep, and for how long
- Billing and payment records. Our payment processor (Stripe) retains transaction records for the period required by U.S. tax and financial regulations, typically seven years. We never store your full card number.
- Security and audit logs. Records of sign-ins and administrative actions are retained for up to 12 months for fraud prevention and security investigation, then deleted.
- Backups. Deleted data may persist in encrypted system backups for up to 30 days before those backups age out. It is not accessible in the app during that window.
Deletion is permanent. We cannot restore a deleted account, and signing up again with the same phone number or email creates a brand-new, empty account.
